Just about all news you hear or see today is about the downward economy. Folk are losing jobs, the cost of gasoline is accelerating ; and then there is the scary’R’ word, Recession. As a leader, you are meant to be upbeat and optimistic about the prevailing economy. Wherever you go somebody will ask you how business is really because it can be one of the barometers for the economy. You attempt to explain that you haven’t any crystal ball and you don’t have any idea the way the market is relative to your community, and you do this all with a happy face. After all , they may be a potential purchaser. You then casually ask how their business is and they may say, reluctantly, they wished to buy a widget today but the economy feels slow and, they’re just unsure about anything. With the result of the bad economy we are enduring, I saw on the news yesterday evening a tale about a person who had been making close to $1 million a year, but’due to the bad economy’ he was now delivering pizza and bankrupt. He lost his home and most of his possessions. Similar scenarios of lost jobs, homes foreclosed and lives ruined appear to be taking place everywhere at this time.
